Question : Can I acquire as a Foreign person property in Turkey?
Answer : Yes, the acquisition of property in Turkey is relatively easy, sure and without risk. Natural persons may acquire according to §2644 to Turkish of land register law property in Turkey.
Question : Can I acquire in all areas property?
Answer : Yes, you can acquire in all areas, only in villages without own municipality and in military edge zones no property may be acquired.
Question : How is the winding up with the acquisition?
Answer : Every acquisition, is put down with the land registry on the land register. The buyer receives the Tapu = land register extract as a proprietary proof.
Question : Which formalities are necessary?
Answer :
- Identity cards/Passports of buyer and vendor (copy is sufficient with application position on proprietary change)
- The recent passport photographs of both parties
- Father's names of both parties
Question: Which parties must be present?
Answer :

Question : Is a notarial bill of sale necessary?
Answer : A notarial bill of sale is no must go condition for the effective registration in the land register. He should be concluded between the parties to the definition of the responsible-juridical obligations.
Question : How long does the registration take?
Answer : First the military management must confirm in Izmir in writing which is not the object in a military edge area. This can take up to three months (depends on nationality). Afterwards to circumscribe the Tapu on the new purchaser / buyer takes only one day.
Question : Which unique costs originate with the acquisition?
Answer :
- at present 3% of land transfer tax included delivery to the support of the state education system and handling charge of the purchase price registered in the Tapu
- approx. 50 € for sworn in interpreters by registration in the land registry
Question : Can the acquired property be left bequeath?
Answer : Yes, it is left bequeath to the lawful successors if no differently being testament is. The successor must allow to confirm the English letters of administration at the Turkish family court, before the successor's succession can be put down in the land registry.
